Flooded Car Towing in Pearland, TX

Pearland Quality Towing tows flooded cars once the water goes down. Low streets near Clear Creek can take on water fast in a big storm. Flooded Car Towing Services

Stalled in High Water

Once you're safe and the water's dropped, we'll pull the car out and load it.

Flooded in a Driveway or Lot

Cars that sat in rising water at home or work go to a shop for inspection before anyone turns the key.

Stuck in a Ditch After the Storm

Saturated shoulders give way. We'll winch it out slowly, then load it. See winch-out service.

To the Insurance Lot

If your insurer tells you where to take it, we'll deliver it there and give you an itemized receipt.

Electric and Hybrid Cars

A flooded high-voltage battery can be a fire risk, sometimes days later. Tell us it's an EV so we load it and park it with that in mind.

Trucks and SUVs

Higher ground clearance doesn't mean it stayed dry. Air intakes and electronics can still take on water.

Why You Shouldn't Start a Flooded Car

Engines are built to compress air, not water. If water got into the air intake, cranking the engine can force it into the cylinders. Water doesn't compress, so it can bend connecting rods and wreck the engine. That's called hydrolock, and one turn of the key can cause it.

Water also gets into wiring, sensors, the transmission and the brakes. A car that starts fine can still have problems that show up weeks later.

So:

  • Don't turn the key, even to check the dash.
  • Don't jump it.
  • Don't let anyone push-start it.
  • Open the doors or windows, if it's safe, so the interior can start drying. Wet carpet and seats grow mold quickly in Houston humidity.
  • Leave the battery and wiring alone on an EV or hybrid. High-voltage parts are for trained techs only.

Let a shop check the oil, the air filter and the intake first. On a flatbed, the wheels and drivetrain don't turn, so towing it doesn't add damage.

How to Tell if Your Car Took On Water

Sometimes it's obvious. Sometimes the water drained and the car looks fine. Look for:

  • A waterline or mud line on the doors, the seats or the engine bay.
  • Wet or damp carpet, or water sitting under the floor mats.
  • Fog or droplets inside the headlights, the taillights or the gauge cluster.
  • A musty smell once the car's been closed up for a day.
  • Silt or debris in the trunk, the spare-tire well or around the air filter box.

If the water reached the bottom of the doors, or you see any of these signs, treat the car as flooded. Have it towed to a shop and inspected before you try to start it.

Your Safety Comes First

  • Turn around at flooded roads. Even shallow moving water can push a car off the road.
  • If your car stalls in rising water, leave it and get to higher ground if you can do that safely. If you can't, call 911.
  • Don't wade back in to get things from the car. Floodwater can hide open drains, debris and live wires.
  • Wait until the water drops before you call for a tow. We can't load a car that's still submerged, and we won't send a driver into high water.

Flood Damage and Insurance

Flood damage to a car is usually covered by the comprehensive part of an auto policy, not liability. If you only carry liability, it likely won't pay for flood damage. Steps that help a claim:

  • Photograph the car where it sits, including the waterline on the doors or the interior.
  • Call your insurer before any repairs. Ask where they want the car taken.
  • Keep the tow receipt. Ours is itemized.
  • Don't let anyone start the car. That can complicate a claim.

Your insurer has the final word on what's covered.

What Happens Next

Inspection

The shop drains and checks the fluids, the air intake and the electronics. That tells you and your insurer how deep the damage goes.

Repair or Total Loss

If repairs cost too much compared with the car's value, the insurer may declare it a total loss. If that happens, they may ask us to move it from the shop to a salvage or auction yard. We'll quote that move, too.

If You Buy a Used Car Later

After any big storm, flood-damaged cars can show up for sale. Run a vehicle history report on the VIN and look for the signs above before you buy.

What Flooded Car Towing Costs

Local tows in Pearland typically run $85 to $175, and we quote the whole job before dispatch. Winching a car out of a ditch or a deep yard is listed separately. After-hours calls can add 25% to 50%. After a big storm, demand runs high and it may take longer to get to you. We'll tell you the arrival window when you call.

Water Down? Don't Turn the Key. Call Us.
