Jump Start Services

The Morning No-Start

You turn the key in the driveway and hear clicking or nothing at all. We'll get it running so you can get to work or straight to a parts store.

Back From a Trip

A car that sat for a week or two, at home or in an airport lot, can drain its battery from the alarm and the electronics alone. We'll come to where it's parked.

Start-Stop and AGM Batteries

Newer cars with engine start-stop often use AGM batteries and battery sensors. We connect to the jump points your manual specifies, not just the nearest terminal.

Hybrids and EVs

When a hybrid or EV won't power on, the small 12-volt battery is usually to blame, not the big one. A jump to the 12-volt system wakes the car up.

Pickups and Diesels

Big engines need more cranking current, and many diesels carry two batteries. Tell us if you're diesel, so we bring enough power.

Jump Didn't Hold?

If it dies again soon after the jump, a second jump won't fix it. We'll quote a tow to your mechanic or a parts store on the same call.

What Happens on a Jump Start Call

Battery Check

Before connecting anything, the technician looks for cracks, leaks, swelling and loose or corroded terminals. A damaged battery doesn't get jumped.

Connect and Start

The jump pack connects positive first, then the ground to a bare metal point or the manufacturer's jump post. We start the engine and let it idle.

A Quick Read

With the engine running, we check whether the charging voltage looks normal. If it doesn't, the alternator may not be keeping up, and we'll tell you before you drive off.

Why a Battery Keeps Going Dead

If you need a jump more than once, something is draining the battery or not recharging it:

  • Something left on: a glovebox, trunk or vanity light that doesn't switch off, or a door that isn't fully closed.
  • Aftermarket add-ons: dash cams wired for parking mode, remote starters, stereo amps and trackers can draw power with the car off.
  • Short trips only: a 5-minute drive to school and back doesn't put back what starting the engine took out.
  • A worn alternator: the car runs on battery power until the battery is empty.
  • An old battery: many batteries in hot climates last only a few years.

A shop can run a draw test to find a hidden drain. It's usually a quick, inexpensive test compared with replacing batteries over and over.

Once It Starts

  • Drive 20 to 30 minutes. Steady highway driving on 288 or the Beltway recharges better than stop-and-go on Broadway.
  • Keep the load light at first: AC on low, no seat heaters, phone charger unplugged.
  • Get the battery tested. Many auto parts stores test batteries free.
  • Don't shut off at a gas station right away, unless you're sure it'll restart.

We don't sell batteries on site. If yours needs replacing now, we can follow you or tow the car to a parts store.

Sometimes It's Not the Battery but the Connection

A good battery can't start a car if the current can't get out of it. In Pearland's humid air, corrosion on the terminals is common, and it can look exactly like a dead battery.

Look for Crust

White, green or blue powder on the battery posts or clamps is corrosion. It blocks current and can keep the alternator from fully recharging the battery.

Wiggle Test

With the engine off, try to twist each cable clamp by hand. If one moves, it's loose. A loose clamp can cause a no-start one day and a perfect start the next.

Cleaning It Up

A shop can clean the terminals and the clamps, or you can do it yourself with the engine off, gloves and eye protection, a baking soda and water mix, and a terminal brush. Disconnect the negative cable first and reconnect it last. Battery acid burns, so if you're not comfortable doing it, leave it to a shop.

Check the Ground

The ground cable from the battery to the engine or body can corrode too. If the battery and terminals test fine but the car still won't crank, ask your shop to check it.

Replacing the Battery? Three Quick Tips

Match the Type

If your car came with an AGM battery, replace it with an AGM battery. A standard battery in a start-stop car can wear out quickly and set warning lights.

Check the Date

Batteries carry a date code, often on a sticker. A fresher battery has more life left. Ask the store how to read it.

Reset If Needed

Some newer cars need the new battery registered to the car's computer, so the charging system treats it correctly. Your shop or dealer can do it.
